• Notes

  Jesse and Maria went to Canada on their wedding trip. They decided to reside near New Dundee, Ontario. A Bible brought with them to Canada is in the possession of Wayne Cassel. His parents and younger siblings also immigrated to Canada in 1850 to join their two older brothers who went in 1848. After Maria died, Jesse married Veronica Biehn September 15, 1889. They were Mennonite and resided near New Dundee, Ontario. Their home still stands south west of New Dundee on the road to Blenheim Cemetery. The wooden inscription on the gable end of the stone part of the house reads "Jesse and Maria Kassel 1858".
