- NELSON REINFORD Nelson L. Reinford, 85, of Pleasant Mills went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 in The Manor at Penn Village in Selinsgrove. Born Jan. 1, 1921 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Norman S. and Mary (Landes) Reinford. He married the former Mary M. Leatherman Sept. 22, 1945. She preceded him in death June 19, 2004. He was educated in the Creamery schools in Montgomery County. Mr. Reinford was engaged in dairy farming and had worked at the Perkiomenville Livestock Sales. He served as a board member of the "Life With God," radio broadcast in Montgomery County. He drove a school bus for many years and had also driven a church camp bus. He developed many friendships with children in these endeavors. He was a member of Spring Mount Mennonite Church in Montgomery County, where he held deacon responsibilities for 41 years. After moving to the Mt. Pleasant Mills area, he became a member of Boyer Mennonite Church in Middleburg. Mr. Reinford was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who just loved working. In addition, he was accomplished in chair caning. He is survived by four sons, Clyde L. Reinford and his wife, Carol R., of Shippensburg, Vernon L. Reinford and his wife, Kay J., of Louisville, OH, the Rev. Ralph L. Reinford and his wife, Barbara A., of Wooster, OH and Carl L. Reinford and his wife, Gloria D., of Middleburg; four daughters, Lorraine L. Freed and her husband, Laverne W., of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Lois L. Reinford of Telford, Fern L. Landis and her husband, Ernest K., of Mt. Pleasant Mills and Ruth Ann Reinford of Schwenksville; 27 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence L. Reinford and his wife, Marie, of Harleysville, Ernest L. Reinford and his wife, Mary, of Telford and Floyd L. Reinford and his wife, Mary Jane, of Souderton; two sisters, Florence L. Metz of Souderton and Mary Ellen Hoover and her husband, Daniel A., of Schwenksville; three generations of nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, J. Lynette Reinford of McAlisterville. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Leatherman Reinford, May 31, 1998; a grandson, Jayden Reinford, Dec. 28, 1986; two brothers, Lester L. Reinford and Norman L. Reinford; and a sister, Martha Reinford. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, Jan. 30 from Boyer Mennonite Church, 1472 W. Ridge Road, Middleburg, with Pastor Eli Beachy and Pastor James C. Brubaker, officiating. Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Family, friends and others will gather for the viewing from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday evening at the church and again Monday from 9 AM to the time of the service at 11 AM.
