      Pvt. Moone was killed in action in France on June 28, 1944 according to a telegram received by his parents. He was in the Infantry and had been in service since February, 1942.
      Besides his parents he leaves five brothers, all in service. they are: Pft. Russell F. Moone, now in England; Sgt. Richard L. Moone, in england; Cpl. Harold L. Moone, in NOrth Aftica; Pvt. Bernare W. Moone, in the Southwest Pacific, and Pfc. Edmund W. Moone, in England. A sister, Mrs Mildred Adams of Summit also survives.
      Before entering the Army, Pvt. Moone was employed at the Greenwich Worsted Mill in East Greenwich.

      The Greenwich Mills paused momentarily at 11 a.m. yesterday to honor its first employe to die in battle. Pvt. Leonare C. Moone of Summit, who was reported Wednesday to have been killed in France
      At the same time the executive bvoard of Local 108 T.W.U.A., C.I.O. adopted resolution on Moone’s death, which follows:
      “Resolved, that we the members of Local 108 of the Greenwich Mills extend to the family of the late Leonard C. Moone, who has made the supreme sacrifice on the battlefields of France, our deepest and sincere sympathy. Out of respect for the first casualtythat the Greenwich Mills has suffered, the superintendent Henry F. Ames, closed the entire mill and everyone stood in silence for a minute at their respective places of work on Friday, Aug. 18 1944 at 11 a.m.
      That his sacrifice may not have been in vain is the hope and consolation that we express to his famiily. Be it further resolved that a gold star be place in a conspicuous post in the shipping departmant in which he was employed”
