- EVA KRATZ Eva L. (Ruth) Kratz, 96, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at Souderton Mennonite Homes, where she resided for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin L. Kratz, in 1993. She formerly resided in Morwood, Franconia Twp. Born in Harleysville, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Landis) Ruth. She was a longtime member of Franconia Mennonite Church, where she participated in the churchs sewing circle. Mrs. Kratz enjoyed spending time with her family, doing farm chores, gardening, tatting, knitting, crocheting, embroidering and doing word search puzzles. She was a member of the Senior Adult Activity Center of Souderton, where she further developed her acrylic painting abilities. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Long and her husband, Warren, of Salfordville and Mary Swartley and her husband, David, of Quakertown; a son, Robert Kratz and his wife, Betty, of Telford; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ella Ruth of Souderton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Ruth, Alpheus Ruth and Henry Ruth; a sister, Bessie Rittenhouse; and a grandson, Barry Long. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 PM, Monday, Aug. 22 at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, in the Fellowship Room. The memorial service will follow visitation. Burial will take place at Franconia Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Water for Life, P.O. Box 456, Kalona, IA 52247. Arrangements are by Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home in Souderton.
